The structure of the solar corona on March 7, 1970.
Abstract
The solar coronal structure has been studied using photographic plates obtained during the total solar eclipse of March 7, 1970. Coronal polarization and the distribution of K and X radiation is considered. The 'gothic pavilion' model of the big helmet-like streamers which stretch along the quiet filaments is confirmed. The relation between quiet regions on the solar surface and the dark parts of the corona is discussed. Two coronal arcs extending from the tops of prominences are found.
