UV laser triggering of spark gaps by two-quantum photoelectric effect
Abstract
A mechanism responsible for the triggering of spark gaps was investigated. The aluminum cathode of the gap was irradiated by an uv N 2-laser. Sufficient electrons for breakdown were created. These electrons were released via two-quantum photoelectric effect.
