On the implementation of real time digital filters
Abstract
The overall process of digital filter implementation starting with a higher-order digital transfer function is discussed. Algorithms to provide a good pole-zero pairing for cascade implementations and a low noise ordering of cascaded modules are provided. The quantization characteristics of twenty structures (programming forms) and a weighted average technique to choose the best structure are presented. The results of several simulations designed to verify these algorithms show the low noise characteristics of the implementation process. Some experimental results are also demonstrated.
