A contribution to the transmission of digital signals in the baseband
Abstract
The reported investigation is concerned with the calculation of system parameters which are important for the transmission of data with the aid of multistage codes, taking into account partial response codes and multilevel codes without redundance. Aspects related to pulse interference and the 'eye pattern' diagram are investigated and questions concerning the power spectrum and the signal and noise power are examined. The error probability is studied and a number of examples is discussed, giving attention to the minimization of the relative eye pattern error and the simultaneous optimization of transmitting and receiving filters for the minimum worst-case error probability.
