Structure of the absorption band of a metal subjected to laser radiation
Abstract
Calculation results for the interaction of laser radiation with metals at supercritical temperature of the condensed material are presented. Some experimental data and theoretical calculations were used for determining equation of state, absorption coefficient, and thermal conductivity. These results were then used to calculate density and temperature profiles in the absorption zone for the interaction of mercury and a 300-nsec pulse produced by a neodymium glass laser.
