Stability of the flow of a viscous fluid along an inclined plane
Abstract
The stability of a layer of a viscous fluid running down a solid surface under the action of gravity is studied in a linear approximation based on the NavierStokes equations. The effect of surface tension and angle of inclination of the solid wall on the stability bounds is taken into consideration. Curves of neutral stability are calculated for two types of disturbances  surface waves and shear waves.
