A transistorized pulse current source for TRAPATT diodes
Abstract
The RF performance of pulsed TRAPATT oscillators depends to a large degree on the characteristics of the bias source. A pulsed current source which generates a rectangular bias current pulse as a means to avoid signal instabilities was developed. The developed current sources eliminates also the danger that the TRAPATT diode might be damaged because of a sudden increase in bias current.
