The use of square waves as auxiliary signal in the extraction of P. C. correlation detection
Abstract
It is pointed out that in digital detection processes using the polarity coincidence correlator (PCC) the information content of the signal is reduced by the clipping of the signal. A modified PCC method for overcoming this drawback is proposed. According to the new approach the product of the infinite clipped signal and a square wave is obtained. The correlation function of the product is discussed along with questions concerning the SNR in the case of the resulting output signal. The SNR of the output signal is found to be greatly improved in comparison to the nonmodified method.
