Catastrophes in the canonical quantization in an expanding universe
Abstract
By means of a natural method for the quantization of a massless real scalar field in an expanding universe, it is proved for a Friedmanlike model that the time evolution is not implementable in four dimensions, yielding some pathological behavior of the operator of the total number of particles. This pathological behavior is not present in the twodimensional model.
