Ferrites and their engineering applications
Abstract
The physics and applications of magnetically ordered dielectrics are examined, and the basic theoretical concepts of the physics of magnetism are outlined. The different types of magnetic ordering are studied, along with exchange and relativistic interactions, the magnetic symmetry of crystals, the dynamics of the magnetic lattice, the characteristics of magnon and phonon spectra, and magnon-phonon interactions. The crystalline structures of magnetic crystals are discussed, and their principal physical properties are described. The application of ferrites in microwave devices in information processors and recorders, in thermomagnetic recorders, in magneto-optical devices, and in magnetic holography is examined.
