Electron temperature measurements in a hydrogen spark plasma
Abstract
A spark plasma was created in a hydrogen atmosphere at 50 torr by a high voltage discharge (10 kV) and showed severe deviations from equilibrium behavior, as indicated by measured values of pressure, electron density and population densities. Three techniques were applied for the evaluation of the electron temperature. The method based on the ionization rate equation gave results in satisfactory agreement with the expected values.
