A new approach to liquid fluidics
Abstract
At the present time, research and development activities in the field of hydraulic fluidics fall into two categories: those where conventional air fluidic devices are operated on various liquids, and those which use the unique properties of an unsubmerged liquid jet. The device described herein falls into the latter category. When compared with conventional air and hydraulic fluidic devices, the use of the unsubmerged liquid laminar jet results in higher gain, lower power requirements, higher fan-out ratios, small size, no impedance matching problems, and extremely stable operation. A brief historical background is presented along with design procedures. Sample design problems are worked out.
