Radiation from a magnetic ring source on cylindrical plasma column
Abstract
The radiation pattern of a magnetic ring source (placed in air) which is surrounding a cylindrical shaped plasma column having a central conductor along its axis is studied. The radiation pattern due to this configuration gives the enhanced radiations in the end-fire direction. The presence of the central conductor also affects the magnitude of the radiation field but not the direction. It is, therefore, inferred that this system can be used for the communication purposes in some particular direction (end-fire direction of the antenna). The radiation field is calculated with the steepest descent method for the evaluation of the integrals.
