Natural convection above a line heat source - Higher-order effects and stability
Abstract
The natural-convection plume above a horizontal line heat source is analyzed in terms of higher-order boundary-layer theory. A stability analysis of the resulting base flow is then performed by means of a systematic expansion for the disturbance field. Comparison of the theory with existing experimental results is found to be inconclusive.
