The Outburst of CI Cygni in 1973
Abstract
Photometric and spectroscopic observations of CI Cyg during the 1973 outburst are described. Photoelectric observations plotted on a two-color diagram indicate that the color variations of the variable may be explained by assuming that the star is a binary system consisting of a cold M2III star and hot star surrounded by a gaseous nebula. The 1973 outburst was caused by increasing brightness of the hot component.
