B 1101+38
Abstract
K. Pounds, X-Ray Astronomy Group, University of Leicester, telexes: "One of several high-latitude transient sources detected by the Ariel 5 x-ray sky survey is probably identified with the BL Lac object B2 1101+38. First seen on June 1, the source brightened to 16 Ariel cts/s on June 6 and then faded to 5 cts/s by June 10. It was still visible at 0.7 cts/s in mid-September. The high variability of B2 1101+38 suggests the importance of continued study of this region at optical, radio and x-ray wavelengths."
