Abstract
D. Hearn, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, reports that the SAS-3 group has discovered a source of soft x-rays at R.A. = 14h01m +/- 1m, Decl. = -45o.2 +/- 0o.4 (equinox 1950.0). The source, discovered on July 15, appears to be smaller than 1o in extent. It is detected most strongly in the 0.1 to 0.28 keV energy band, at a level of about 10 percent of the total Cygnus Loop intensity in that band. A weak signal present in the 0.4 to 0.7 keV band indicates a spectral temperature of 3 x 10**6 K or less.
