Heat transfer in separated flows. I - Experiments on local heat transfer from the rear of a flat plate inclined to an air stream
Abstract
In the present paper, the authors determined experimentally the local heat transfer coefficient from the rear of a flat plate inclined to an air stream. The velocity of the free stream ranges from 8.0 to 26 m/s, and the Reynolds number, based on the 50 mm chord length, ranges from 25,000 to 80,000. The nominal blockage ratio is 0.166 when the angle of incidence is 90 deg. The data are satisfactorily represented by an equation of the type where Nusselt number is proportional to the 2/3 power of Re. Empirical expressions are found for average heat transfer coefficient and local heat transfer coefficient.
