A phase method for deriving nonmonotonic N/h/ profiles
Abstract
The possibility of phase measurements for determining the electron concentration of the isotropic, nontransparent ionosphere is discussed. Based on an approximation of geometrical optics, linear functions are used to derive the electron density in E-region troughs. For the practical application of this method to ionospheric sounding, it is important to determine how easily it can be solved.
