The Max Planck Institute for Fluid Dynamics today
Abstract
The Institute was founded in 1925 to provide Prandtl with suitable facilities for basic studies in fluid dynamics. Investigations conducted in the institute after Prandtl are discussed. These investigations are related to the characteristics of turbulence, vortex motion, the stability of a supersonic beam and its acoustic effects, aspects of flow stability and soot formation in flames, highly expanded nozzle jets, and the total scattering cross section for collisions between helium atoms.
