The detection of the direction of motion in the case of a contactless velocity measurement with optical grids
Abstract
The procedure for the contactless measurement of motion reported by Kreutzer (1973) does not provide information whether the motion takes place in a forward or backward direction. In previously described methods for obtaining this information the requirements concerning the optical and mechanical design are very high. Attention is, therefore, given to two methods which make it possible to detect the direction of motion by means of an entirely electronic approach without any additional optical or mechanical devices.
