Oscillator employing an avalanche diode within a radial resonant cavity
Abstract
In the resonant-cap type IMPATT diode oscillator described, the cavity is directly coupled to a waveguide. This enables the oscillator to generate signals in the X band. The system characteristics discussed were obtained with silicon diodes having a p+nn+ structure. The frequency range is between 40 and 90 GHz.
