Modulation of the He-Ne laser radiation intensity by current discharge modulation
Abstract
Modulation of He-Ne laser radiation is achieved by modulating the discharge current. No additional elements (such as vacuum valves, transistors, transformers, etc.) are involved in the discharge circuit. The modulating voltage is applied to the ballast resistor. High percentage modulation can be obtained at a low signal voltage. An intensity modulation of the laser radiation of frequencies up to 2 MHz is achieved. When the modulation frequency is increased, the modulation percentage is reduced to zero.
