Parametrization of atmospheric boundary layer
Abstract
Unsteady effects in the atmospheric boundary layer are parameterized in terms of boundary layer height, drag velocity, vertical turbulent heat flux, buoyancy parameter, Coriolis parameter, and baroclinicity parameters. These parameters define four length scales and four dimensionless parameters. Dimensionless defects of velocity and temperature and resistance laws are then obtained. Formulas are given from which the universal drag functions in the resistance laws can be determined on the basis of experimental data.
