Relation between upper-atmospheric parameters and solar activity
Abstract
A possible relation between upper-atmospheric parameters (density, temperature, circulation) and solar activity (as reflected in mean annual Wolf numbers) is considered. Data on mean annual air-mass motions in the M zone are analyzed, and satellite measurements of upper-atmospheric temperatures and densities are noted. It is concluded that the circulation, density, and temperature of the upper atmosphere are substantially influenced by sunspot-forming activity on the sun.
