Superconductive machinery
Abstract
The design and performance of machinery incorporating superconductive technology are discussed. Among the applications considered are superconductive bearings, superconductive motors (including reluctance motors, motors with induced rotor currents, low-temperature induction motors, and oscillating motors), flux pumps, and magnetically suspended trains. The problem of AC losses in hard and soft superconductors is analyzed.
