Thermal blooming vs linear absorption in a vertical beam
Abstract
It is shown that for the special case of a vertical beam undergoing thermal blooming a selfsimilar solution exists for the linearized hydrooptical equations. A scale length may then be defined that determines the characteristic width of the light distribution as well as the distributions of the temperature and the flow velocities in the beam.
