Low-energy nucleosynthesis of lithium, beryllium, and boron.
Abstract
Results for detailed calculations of lithium, beryllium, and boron production by spallation reactions at low energies are reported. Proton and alpha-induced reactions, destruction, and deceleration effects are included. The abundances and isotopic ratios for particle spectra analogous to those observed in solar flares (power law in kinetic energy) agree with the solar-system values. It is suggested that stellar flares, low-energy cosmic rays, or both are the main contributors to the nucleosynthesis of these elements.
