A sunspot as a standard for abundance analyses of cool stars: Ba I spectrum.
Abstract
Summary. Lines of neutral barium in the spectra of a sunspot and of oc Tau (KS III), oc Boo (K2 III) and Peg (K2 Ib) have been analyzed by a curve of growth method, using the gf-values of Miles and Wiese (t969). From the sunspot spectrum a solar barium abundance log (NBa/NH) + t2.00 =2.07+0.35 (s.d.) has been found. The results of previous barium abundance determinations, using strong Ba ii lines in the late type stellar spectra, are substantiated. Key words: barium abundance sunspot spectrum
