The G-type eclipsing binary TY Pyxidis.
Abstract
Summary. The 7th magnitude G-type eclipsing binary TY Pyx, with a period of 3d2 and with the H and K lines in emission in both components, is shown to consist of two approximately equal components with masses 1.2 M0, radii 1.65 R0, and spectral type G5. No other binary system with similar properties is known to us, and we encounter some difficulty in understanding its history. The motion of TY Pyx implies that it belongs to the older disc population. Key words: eclipsing binary absolute stellar dimensions
