Hot-wire and hot-film anemometry
Abstract
The principles of operation of hot-wire and hot-film anemometry are discussed along with device design considerations, questions of material selection, the heat-loss of the wire in steady flow, the conduction of measurements in steady flow, and the dynamic characteristics of a hot wire and a hot film in constant-current operation. Other topics investigated are related to constant-temperature operation under unsteady conditions, measurements in unsteady flow fields, and the design and the employment of anemometer circuits.
