Characteristics of turbulent flows in the presence of body forces and nonself-similarity
Abstract
An investigation is made of turbulent jets in the presence of factors which strongly influence the structure of the flow. These factors include: the effect of body forces (a heavy dispersed impurity or electromagnetic forces), twisting of the flow, a pressure gradient, and strong nonself-similarity. Models and methods are developed which allow the well known approaches of semi-empirical theory to be extended to the problems considered. Calculation methods and simple approximate engineering relationships are given. Calculated results are compared to experimental data.
