On the slowness of a small departure from steady flow
Abstract
A slow departure of a flow around or through a solid body from steady conditions has to be represented analytically when the stability of the motion is investigated. In such a representation, the concept of a 'slow' perturbation of the flow (under conditions of 'quasi-steady flow') is usually employed. The nature of this assumption is examined and a method of relaxing it is explained.
