Low mass cylindrical spark chamber with capacity read-out

The manufacture and performance of a J-shaped low mass wire spark chamber is described. The chamber was designed to surround a polarized proton target and cover the maximum acceptance possible inside the magnetic field for studying the antiproton + rising proton yields positive pion + negative pion interaction. The drift due to the magnetic field is discussed.
