Propagation of pressure waves through junctions with previous flow
Abstract
The interaction of a pressure wave with the junction connecting a side branch with a straight duct, crossed by a previous steady flow, is considered. The lengthwise sizes of the junction are assumed to be negligible and pressure losses through it, in the quasi-steady flow which takes place after the passage of the incident pressure wave, are assumed to be steady flow ones. Five different junctions are tested and the experimental results are compared with the theoretical ones.
