Current expectations for fusion power from toroidal machines
Abstract
The probability that toroidal magnetic machines may be the first to lead to a viable fusion power system are discussed. It is shown that serious problems still remain unsolved. But increasing government support leads many to expect a scientific feasibility experiment and a demonstration of thermonuclear burning of deuterium-tritium fuel before 1980.
