Investigation of the mechanism of heat transfer upon film boiling of liquid
Abstract
A technique has been developed for investigating the interface motion upon film boiling of liquid, based on the use of continuous laser radiation. Variations of the vapor film thickness have been studied upon boiling on both a metal surface and a surface with a coating of low thermal conductivity. The mechanism of heat transfer through a vapor film has been analyzed with the aid of statistical characteristics of the interface fluctuations. There is suggested a dependence generalizing the obtained data on heat transfer.
