On the solution of unsteady heat conduction in multi-region finite media with time dependent heat transfer coefficient
Abstract
An analytical solution is derived for the problem of transient heat conduction in finite composite media subjected to convective-type boundary conditions with time- and space-dependent heat transfer coefficient. The medium is divided into a number of subregions. Each subregion has different thermal properties which may depend on the space variable, contains distributed heat sources which are prescribed functions of space and time, and has an arbitrarily prescribed initial temperature field. Various order of analytical approximations are derived from the general analysis.
