Frictional effects in the kinetics of gyroscopes
Abstract
It is pointed out that many frictional effects can be derived on the basis of a number of fundamental phenomena. The fundamental phenomena are described with the aid of examples, taking into account friction in the rotor bearing, disturbances of the equilibrium between rotor propulsion and friction, and friction effects in general gyroscope systems. Attention is given to questions regarding the consideration of very small frictional forces.
