Electroslag remelting in multipass crystallizers

Several methods of multipass electroslag melting, including two pass melting of slab ingots for producing sheets (7) and four pass melting of square section ingots, have been developed. A modernized furnace of type was used to obtain four ingots simultaneously with a cross section of 150 x 150 mm. Modernization of the furnace included equipping it with a new drive mechanism for the lower car, a four pass crystallizer and a crucible stool automatic level system for the metal and slag bath and a system for controlling the motion of the crystallizer, and also a special interchangeable electrode holder. Slight reequipping of the short system makes it possible to use both bifilar and single phase schemes on this furnace.
