The polar orbiting environmental satellite system
Abstract
The first spacecraft of the current generation of NOAA operational polar orbiting satellites was launched on October 15, 1972. Primary payload instruments are the Scanning Radiometer, Vertical Temperature Profile Radiometer and the Very High Resolution Radiometer. General information about the spacecraft, its orbit and instruments is presented.
