Digital data modems to 1 Gb/s
Abstract
Descriptions of various modem hardwares allowing near-theoretical signal processing of PSK and QPSK signals at data rates from 16 kb/s to 1 Gb/s are presented. Performance results up to 1 Gb/s are given for a variety of test conditions. A brief summary of corresponding required data handling equipment that has been developed is included. There are basically two types of digital signal processing hardware: continuously tunable systems and fixed bit rate systems. Evolution of the hardware has progressed to the point where implementation is now practical.
