High speed modem for troposcatter
Abstract
A description is given of a troposcatter modem currently being developed under the megabit digital troposcatter subsystem (MDTS). This subsystem consists of a wideband digital data modem and equipment, with link modifications where required, to provide high-capacity and high-quality digital communications over defense communication links. The modem design uses adaptive decision-feedback equalization to accomplish diversity combining reduction of intersymbol interference, coherent demodulation, and mitigation of time jitter effects.
