Nonlinear oscillations of a liquid in a cylindrical vessel in near zero-gravity conditions
Abstract
Analysis of the forced oscillations of a liquid in a cylindrical vessel performing harmonic oscillations in a weak gravitational field. The method of Narimanov (1957) is used to reduce the problem to the solution of a system of second-order nonlinear differential equations. An approximate solution is obtained and studied for stability. A qualitative and quantitative analysis is then carried out for the effect of surface tension forces on the amplitude-frequency characteristics and stability regions of the mechanical system.
