Direct measurements of ion drift velocity in the upper ionosphere during a magnetic storm. Part 2: Results of measurements during the November 3, 1967 magnetic storm
Abstract
Measurements of ion drift (convection) velocity made from the Cosmos-184 oriented satellite at 630 km altitude during a magnetic storm are given. The measurements were carried out for the velocity component approximately normal to the direction towards the sun over both the northern and southern (polar) caps and auroral zones. Observations of the western negative electrojet polarization during a substorm and of the western positive electrojet are discussed.
