Loss measurement in superconductor materials for high current densities subjected to current and field variations as for cryoalternators
Abstract
A loss measurement method applicable to high intensity superconductors subjected to low frequency variable induction is presented. An electrical method is used to determine the losses by integration of the volt ampere product over time. The product is obtained by analog multiplication and integration performed numerically. The input current to the samples is monitored by a system, which is described in detail. Calibration was performed with a copper coil at liquid helium temperature. A 4% precision was obtained for an energy measurement of 4 microjoule.
