The architecture of future automatic testing systems
Abstract
The paper discusses possible improvements in the areas of system software, diagnostic capabilities, and reliability for future automatic testing systems. The most dramatic immediate developments will probably occur in the field of software. The importance of the test-development task implies that future equipment will operate in an interactive mode. A general reduction in the number of peripheral units will be accomplished by increased emphasis on analytical methods and computer-based techniques, including sampling, waveform analysis, and transfer-function analysis.
