Improving the method of measuring atmospheric transmission from the intensity of backscattered light
Abstract
The modified method proposed has the advantage that the atmospheric transmission of the layer studied is determined directly from the sum of the backscatter signals from nearby and remote atmospheric layers. The idea is to equalize the signal levels by attenuating the signal from the nearby brightness zone. This makes it possible to compensate for signal attenuation due to divergence of the light beam.
