Secular disturbances arising from the asphericity of the central body within third-order terms of dynamic compression
Abstract
Analytical expressions for the secular disturbances of satellite motion, due to oblateness of the central body are derived, using a solution of the symmetric version of the generalized problem of two fixed centers as the undisturbed intermediate orbit. It is shown that purely secular disturbances, defined within higher-order terms, are caused only by the even zonal harmonics of the planet's potential, and appear only in the angular elements.
