Frequency limitation to the theoretical investigation of the transmission of HM waves through the ionosphere
Abstract
Limitations on a previous system of equations describing the transmission of ULF waves through the ionosphere are demonstrated. This former method is only valid for middle and lowfrequency ULF waves. The present paper studies the time mean value of the energy flow transmitted by a magnetohydrodynamic wave. The discussion is based on the work of Bochnicek (1972). Quasithreedimensional graphs are given of the mean time value of the Poynting vector module as a function of wave period and the coordinate axis (z) of a clockwise system whose xyplane coincides with the earth's surface.
